Overview

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position as Director of Bands. The appointment will be effective June 2018. The primary responsibility of the position is the artistic and musical leadership of the CCU Wind Ensemble and the direction of the Chanticleer Regiment (marching band) and basketball pep band. The Director of Bands will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Music and will serve as a liaison to the Athletic Department. Additional teaching responsibilities may include supervising student teachers, teaching instrumental music method courses, and overseeing the organization and operation of the CCU Honor Band and Scholarship Festival. As an active member of the department of music, the successful candidate is expected to participate in faculty service activities and committee work.

– Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold a master’s degree in conducting or music education (instrumental emphasis). The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and excellence in performance with a minimum of three (3) years leading a successful high school or university band program. Preferred job qualifications: Earned doctorate (or ABD) in conducting or music education.
