Kingsley Montessori School – Cello Teacher

Lesson teachers are expected to engage our students with a holistic approach to music education; emphasizing importance upon incorporating a thorough approach to teaching sight reading, music theory, composition, ear training, aural analysis, and best practices when working with young children. Students will be expected to perform in recitals that take place 2-3 times throughout the year, and will learn to take ownership of their own practice regimen as well as develop a vocabulary for guided self-critique.

Lesson teachers will be expected to uphold communications deemed necessary with their students’ families. This includes, but is not limited to: initiating contact with families (via phone call or e-mail during appropriate daytime hours) when questions or concerns are raised by the teacher, as well as returning parent communications within one business day.

During the course of the 2018-2019 academic year, Music Teachers will be expected to attend various functions and events, including: Music Faculty Meetings, Music Recitals, and a recruiting event during September (“Musical Petting Zoo”). These events have been scheduled so as to not conflict with teaching hours or lesson schedule commitments. These will be considered paid hours, and will be compensated at the hourly rate given. Attendance is vital to the success of the program, and conflicts or absences must be approved by the program director, Tyler Nay, at least two weeks in advance. Teachers will be compensated at a rate of $25 per hour for attending these important events.
