Montreat College – Assistant Professor of Music

Montreat College seeks a broadly-trained music faculty member to teach music and to lead the college in elevating and promoting the fine arts (music, theatre, and art) on campus. For the right candidate, this position could also serve as Chair of the Fine and Performing Arts Department. The successful candidate will have interest and skill in building student participation in music, especially by non-majors. This is a full-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of music courses, leading vocal ensembles, and organizing student performances at college events, cooperate in promoting fine arts activities in the life of the college. Additional responsibilities may include advising students, participating in faculty committees, and other duties for faculty members and department chairs as described in the Faculty Handbook.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate support for Christian liberal arts education and the specific ability to integrate faith and the discipline in a compelling, thoughtful manner.

Education/Experience:
Doctorate in music or related field preferred; master’s degree required.
