Overview

Boston-based MusiConnects, founded in 2007, has a mission that reads, ” To model and teach self-expression, peer leadership and community development through the transformative power of chamber music.” MusiConnects focuses its curated annual performance and education activities on the neighborhood of Mattapan and adjacent communities. MusiConnects seeks a cellist to join its team of dedicated Resident Musicians to perform in its annual series of chamber music concerts and teach in its after-school education and mentoring programs. This is a 10-month position with the possibility of continuing.

Responsibilities
● Rehearse and perform chamber music (10-15 concerts/year)
● Teach approximately 12 cello students (6 hours/week)
● Actively participate in 4-5 student performances
● Attend regular staff meetings (bi-weekly)
● Participate in related administrative and planning activities (as assigned)

Schedule: Part-time weekly responsibilities, closely following the academic year at an average of 10 hours/week. Attendance required at occasional evening and weekend events. Access to your own vehicle is highly desirable, as not all locations are easily accessible by public transportation.

Salary: $8,000-$10,000, depending on total hours, and does not include benefits. There is an opportunity to earn additional compensation with private teaching in our Roslindale studio.

● Passion for working with children, especially beginning students
● Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in performance, education or equivalent work experience
