Opera North is England’s national opera company in the North and one of Europe’s leading arts organisations. In Harmony is a national initiative that aims to inspire and transform the lives of children, their families and wider communities through school and community-based orchestral music-making. In Harmony Opera North has been running since 2013 in south Leeds and currently works in 5 primary schools and 1 secondary school with over 1,800 children and young people each week.

Due to the programme expanding, several opportunities have arisen for experienced, well-motivated Instrumental Tutors (Violin, Viola, Cello and Trumpet) to join our ambitious and creative team delivering a year-round programme of high quality and engaging instrumental and ensemble tuition within Opera North’s celebrated In Harmony programme. Working with pupils from KS1 – KS4, the appointed instrumental tutors will lead small group instrumental lessons, co-lead ensembles and have the opportunity to develop their skills in more specialist areas, such as SEND and Early Years provision.

The successful candidate will have a solid classical music training and be able to demonstrate experience of working professionally delivering engaging and high-quality instrumental and ensemble tuition with children and young people. This post is subject to satisfactory DBS clearance and the ability to work across locations.
