Piedmont College located in Demorest and Athens, Georgia, is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Music to begin on August 1, 2019. This is a full time, 10-month, non-tenure track position with teaching responsibilities on the Demorest campus.
The Piedmont College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified individual to serve as full-time Faculty for our Music Education Program and provide:
Effective classroom teaching in Music Education and other Music areas based on the candidate’s strengths and department needs, which may include choral or instrumental conducting and/or applied teaching;
Teaching courses in and coordinating all aspects of the BA, MA, MAT, EdS programs in music education;
Serve as the Department of Music liaison with the School of Education;
Provide leadership as the department moves into our new Conservatory of Music facility in the fall of 2019
Recruit and Advise students in Music Education;
Scholarly development appropriate to a small private liberal arts college;
Service responsibilities to the department, school, college and community
Required:
PhD, DMA, or equivalent in Music Education, ABD candidates considered but a terminal degree in the field is required for appointment at Associate Professor;
Evidence of outstanding public school teaching;
Knowledge of Georgia PSC certification requirement and edTPA
Preferred:
Expertise at all levels of instruction in music education;
Demonstrated ability to supervise teaching interns and organize field work;
Expertise in conducting and/or applied teaching
Ability to build strong relationships with Georgia high schools;
Create outreach and community engagement opportunities for students to gain teaching experiences in diverse populations
