Overview

(part-time)
Sistema Scotland has three permanent posts available as we grow our Big Noise Wester Hailes team:
• Senior Musician/Teacher: Upper Strings, Lower Strings or General Musicianship (1 post) – working between 4 & 5 days per week (Tuesday to Friday for 4 days, and Monday to Friday for 5 days).
• Musicians/Teachers: Upper Strings or Lower Strings (2 posts) – working 4 days a week either in term time only, or all year round (Tuesday to Friday)

For all posts, you will be part of a team who work with children from pre-school, primary school, secondary school (in a few years time) and adults. The team are creative in designing and introducing new ways of learning as we use the orchestra to grow children’s confidence, respect, aspiration, drive and understanding. As part of the team, you will develop innovative ways to engage children and families, including home visits and community performances.

As a Senior Musician/Teacher you will support the Head of Centre by contributing to the shaping of our work in the community, by leading on trips and events, encouraging and supporting staff members, building new areas of work in portfolio areas such as youth voice, curriculum and delivery, external partners and community representation. You will also provide leadership and support for Big Noise Musicians, enabling them to deliver the best outcomes for the children, young people and community members in the programme. You will have experience of working with children in a music education and / or community music context, along with experience and success in taking on leadership roles and responsibilities.

For all posts, you will be educated to degree level or equivalent, experience of working with large and varied groups of children is essential, along with a track record of success in giving music instruction to children on your specialist instrument.
