1. First Round – Video submission (See Appendix I for guidelines)
1) One movement of a concerto (Oboe and Horn must choose first movement of Mozart’s works).
2) Three contrasting orchestral excerpts of your choice (Oboe and Horn see Appendix II for details)
2. Second Round – Live Audition, including:
1) Two solo pieces of the applicant’s choice, including:
a) One piece from Classical or Baroque period (Violins, Woodwinds, and French Horns must choose one of Mozart’s works).
b) One piece from Romantic period.
2) Sight Reading of orchestral excerpts.

Time and place for second round live audition
The live audition is planned to happen around March 27-30, 2023, applicants with successful videos will be notified by email no later than January 19, 2023. The audition will take place at Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, 1380 Middle Fuxing Road, Shanghai, China. Applicants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Notice
Due to visa requirements, foreign applicants must have more than 2 years of related work experience and be able to provide reference letters detailing their work experience before accepting any position with SSO.
