Growing as a Performer

FacebookTwitterRedditLinkedInPinterestWhatsApp

Janos Starker discusses his ongoing pursuit of excellence. Although he has published a significant number of works in the cello literature, he still finds himself questioning past interpretations, even waking up at night with new ideas. Starker emphasizes he continues to evolve as a musician. He expresses concern about the proliferation of numerous editions of Bach, many of which are authored by individuals without public performance experience. Starker believes that while it’s important for students to engage with the music independently, they should have informed guidance. Ultimately, he underscores the importance of personal experimentation and informed choices.
